The Well,
based in Norwalk,
CT., formed in the fall of 2001, its original setup as a quartet. Old friends
Peter Stuart and Trent Lewis came in as the guitar players of the band, Paul Bellucci as the drummer. Bassist Max Squire completed
their original format. Keyboard player John Konya joined the band in August 2006.
Lead vocal
duties usually fall on Trent, although Paul and Max do take
lead vocal spot on many songs, lending to diversity in the bands overall tone. The Well is a band that emphasizes the input
of every member, this adds to the diversity of their sound, as well as adds strength to the group’s originals.
The Well
has always made its artistic focus live shows. Their concerts range from boot shaking blues, cow tipping country, soul elevating
improvised rock, to grovin reggae. For The Well its about not only making sure the audience has a great time, but taking the
audience to different places, to a higher place if only for a while.
Their recently
released album is the product of their diverse musical interests and love of improvisational jamming. The Albums' focus is
on songwriting, not instrumental solos for their own sake, but improvised musical passages to support the song structure.
Their sound could perhaps be described as a mix of country, blues, rock, and funk, usually not fitting in any one realm for
too long. The songwriting topics on the October Sessions range from tales of outlaws, to hurricane Katrina's aftermath, to
lost love and redemption.
The Well
is currently available to book for either electric or acoustic performances.
